Richardson to Expand Eight Elevators on Canadian Pacific Network


By Robb M. StewartCanadian agribusiness Richardson International will expand eight grain elevators in western Canada that are serviced by rail operator Canadian Pacific Kansas City. Canadian Pacific said work on the elevators in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta will start in this summer and is set be complete by the end of 2024. Richardson said the elevators' expansion will increase capacity and efficiency, and enable it to benefit from Canadian Pacific's single-line network reaching Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Richardson currently ships unit trains from 27 Canadian Pacific-served elevators in Canada and one in the northern U.S.Canadian Pacific earlier completed the $31 billion acquisition of Kansas City Southern, creating a single-line railway connecting three countries.
