Rhys Webb strikes twice as Ospreys prove too strong for Northampton

They were the better of two sides who lived up to their league positions because they had a clarity their opponents lacked. Two Sam Davies penalties gave them their 11-0 interval lead before the introduction of the Wales and Lions scrum-half Rhys Webb after the interval initially benefited Northampton. When Francis added a penalty after 50 minutes, Northampton were in contention – but Webb started to live up to his reputation. A neat pass from Sam Davies to Scott Baldwin freed Habberfield, on the wing to accommodate Webb, and when Ospreys attacked the line Webb reached out to score the first of his two tries. Northampton had the last word through the replacement hooker Reece Marshall in the final minute, but they were, again, well beaten.
