A man suspected of being a rhino poacher was killed last week by an elephant and his remains devoured by a pride of lions at a South African park, officials said. Rangers at Kruger National Park and other searchers found only a human skull and a pair of pants, the park said in a statement dated Friday. “Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise,” he said in the statement. Last July, rangers and police officers said that as many as three men suspected of being rhino poachers had been killed by lions at a South African game preserve. Since 2008, more than 7,000 rhinos have been hunted illegally, with 1,028 killed in 2017, according to the South African Department of Environmental Affairs.
