'Rhinestone Cowboy' singer Glen Campbell has died at 81

LOS ANGELES -- Legendary U.S. country music singer Glen Campbell, known for his 1975 hit "Rhinestone Cowboy," died aged 81, his family confirmed Tuesday on Facebook. "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell," the family wrote. Campbell passed away at an Alzheimer's care facility in Nashville, Tennessee after battling the disease for more than five years, local media reported. In 2014, he moved to Nashville for treatment, right before the premiere of "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me," an award-winning documentary that followed him around the world on his farewell tour. Campbell sold 45 million records, received 12 gold albums and was nominated for an Academy Award for best original song for "I'm Not Gonna Miss You."
