Paul Nash, the British painter famous for his depictions of World War I, is not widely recognized outside the land of his birth. So it’s something of a surprise to see an all-Nash booth this year at Frieze New York. The booth, from the Piano Nobile gallery, will be Nash’s biggest-ever display in New York. The gallery is one of 33 in the Spotlight section, selected by the section’s curatorial adviser, Laura Hoptman, executive director of the Drawing Center in New York. “There’s a renewed interest in historical artists of the 20th century, pre-World War II artists with a particular interest in Surrealism.”
