The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar-led National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, has advised President Bola Tinubu to address the high cost of living by reducing the prices of petroleum products, electricity tariffs, and agricultural inputs. The council urged governments at all levels to focus on poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, employment generation, and combating corruption. The traditional rulers supported the government’s establishment of Price Control and Commodity Boards to manage food and commodity prices effectively. On security, the council called for increased manpower and equipment for the military, police, and other paramilitary agencies to enhance national security. It also encouraged National Youth Service Corps members and other youth groups to engage in agricultural activities to boost food production.
