Review: 'It' Doesn't Just Float, It Soars

This feels like an adventure film, brimming with youthful energy, lacking the grim hopelessness of a traditional horror film. It was surprisingly fun, especially for a film that opens with a child’s arm being torn off. I wasn’t too thrilled by Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise initially, but he really grew on me as the film progressed. Skarsgard's Pennywise is actually more faithful to the novel in the sense that he doesn't appear remotely human; he behaves like an interdimensional creature, a demonic predator taking the form of a clown. While I wasn’t a fan of his goofy bucked teeth, his appearance is wonderfully warped; an entity attempting to look human, and who doesn’t quite get it right.
