The reverend of a historic Auckland church that went up in flames on Saturday afternoon said he was “sad to see a lot of history go up in smoke”, but grateful no-one was hurt. Reverend Grant Ridout watched on as dozens of firefighters tackled an enormous blaze at St Stephen’s Presbyterian Church in Ponsonby.
