Revenue up 35% in Laikipia county


The Laikipia government collected 35 per cent more revenue in the first six months of last year, compared to the same period in the previous year. Addressing the county assembly, Governor Ndiritu Muriithi said Sh287.5 million was collected between July and December 2018, compared to Sh211.1 million in the previous year. Muriithi said the improved revenue streams include land rates, which has improved with Sh14.9 million (232 %), county natural resources Sh7.8 million (102%), parking fees Sh10 million (42%) and hospitals Sh6.1 million (6%). The governor said the revenue growth is not because residents have been burdened by taxes. All the unstructured revenues have been fully automated, includingparking, markets, cess, Thompson Falls, among others, he said.
