One of the prisoners in a Chinese jail who scribbled a despairing message on a Tesco Christmas card has revealed that he and a fellow inmate had smuggled similar pleas for help into 10 boxes of cards. The Nigerian inmate was one of several former prisoners who came forward last week to describe the use of forced labour in Shanghai’s Qingpu prison, which appears to have been the source of the charity Christmas cards supplied to Tesco supermarkets.
