Around 111,000 cars were stolen in France last year, according to French drivers' organisation 40 Million d'Automobilistes. In fact, one in every eight Smart car owners will see their car pinched each year in France. Thieves getting their hands on luxury cars is quickly becoming a trend in France. Earlier this month a two-country police operation smashed an organised crime gang that stole high-end luxury cars in France and re-sold them for bargain-basement prices in Germany.
