Police had received reports regarding Mr Spooner's welfare eight times over the previous two years, The Times reports. Police officers then removed her from Mr Spooner's home and served a public protection notice to the local council to record the safeguarding concerns. Hansford attacked and killed Mr Spooner, a divorcee who served with the Royal Signals, in the shower just days later before dumping his body. Mr Spooner took pity on the defendant in 2020 and allowed her to stay at his flat in Gladstone Street (pictured), Forest Fields.
