Snowboarding and skiing could soon be coming to Kidwells Park as part of the long-awaited refurbishment of the skatepark. Last week, the Royal Borough announced it would use funds from the Kidwells Park charity trust to go towards the revamp of the popular skatepark, paving the way for improvement works on a facility in ‘significant decline’. Following the announcement, a start-up business called Alps for All has approached the council with a novel idea to go a step further – by turning the skatepark into a winter wonderland in December. This would allow extreme sports fans to swap their skateboards for snowboards and scooters for skis for a brief period each year. But Olof Larip, CEO of Alps for All, has claimed the facility will bring a much-needed tourism boost to the town.
