Revamp of dangerous intersection ahead of schedule


Work on the $2 million reconstruction of a historically dangerous intersection between Timaru and Geraldine is ahead of schedule. The intersection of Winchester-Geraldine, Tiplady, McKenzie and Coach roads has been identified as a high crash site by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, with eight major crashes in the past 10 years, three of them resulting in serious injuries. Council land transport manager Suzy Ratahi confirmed on Tuesday that the work was currently ahead of schedule and hadn’t faced any significant challenges. The intersection has a history of incidents with safety concerns on Stuff dating back more than 10 years.
