Highlights 1 Mayawati criticises demonitisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati today criticised demonitisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes saying it was like imposing financial emergency. "The Narendra Modi government has demonitised the currency notes to divert the attention of the people from its failed promises," she said. After West Bengal and Delhi Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal, Mayawati is the third prominent politician to criticise in toto the Centre's effort to revamp currency notes. She charged that blackmarketing started moments after the PM declared the revamp of currency notes.
