Arab foreign ministers have decided, on Sunday in Cairo, to allow Syria to retake its seat at the Arab League after its membership was suspended following the violent crackdown on pro-democracy protesters. The decision was made after several months of deliberations before agreeing on Syria’s readmission under some conditions. He voiced Morocco’s support to the efforts made in this regard by Saudi Arabia, saying the Arab league move will make the upcoming Arab summit scheduled in Jeddah a real opportunity for the reunification of Arab ranks. Bourita recalled the historical ties between Morocco and Syria and affirmed that King Mohammed VI follows closely the Syria crisis and its impacts on countries of the region. He urged the Arab League to go beyond readmission of Syria, using its leverage for peace & security in a bid to become one of the faithful partners of Syria for development and prosperity.
