Retirement home regulator revokes licence of residence evacuated after COVID-19 'crisis'

The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) has issued an order to revoke the licence of the Rosslyn Retirement Residence in Hamilton, site of the city's deadliest COVID-19 outbreak. Brian Melnike's mother Joan Wallace is one of the home's residents who remain in hospital. Brian Melnike says he and his wife Tracy raised questions about a lack of COVID-19 precautions at the Rosslyn Retirement Residence in the weeks before an outbreak was declared. Financial support is also available for Rosslyn residents through the RHRA's emergency fund, according to Chopp. "We continue to monitor all retirement homes, including those owned Martino families," Chopp wrote.
