The title of the Salon article is not entirely a summary of its contents: "Some millennials aren’t saving for retirement because they don’t think capitalism will exist by then." The remarkable consensus suggests that us millennials lacking traditional retirement savings plans might still have a happy retirement outlook, just not in the conventional way that previous generations did. But every generation of young people thinks that they and their problems are unique, don't they? (As a side comment, the General Social Survey is a great data set because it's readily accessible to the average user rather than requiring special access rights or sophisticated data analysis.) Others disagree and think that the government should Do even more to solve our country's problems.
