Macy’s Inc. is adding 18,000 seasonal workers at distribution centers that replenish store merchandise and fulfill online orders, 20% more than last year. The holidays are critical for retailers like Toys ‘R’ Us, which generates 40% of its yearly net sales then. During its peak the Ohio e-commerce operation expands to seven days a week from five.
