Shujaa had lost 19-14 to the USA in their opening game and needed a win against the Blitzboks who defended well and repelled all Kenyan attacks to win their second match and qualify for the quarterfinals. South Africa led 14-5 at the interval courtesy of opening tries by Selvyn Davids and Shakes Soyizwapi. Kenya pulled one back through veteran Collins Injera but there were no points on board for either side in the second half.
