It is radical restructuring — breakup, if the proponents are frank — that I am uneasy about. The fork on the roadAlas, Nigeria has reached a fork on the road, and neither path is an easy road out of the current nightmare. That leaves another hard road to travel: restructuring within the existing framework. It includes “political restructuring,” the creation of state police, allocation of revenue directly to local governments, and decentralisation of the judiciary. Surely, this is a hard road to travel, and there is a long, long way to go.
