Asst Prof Thon stressed that local communities must play a major role in the Phi Phi Model. Apart from Kui Buri, there is the Phi Phi Model. Kui Buri National Park is a popular destination, to see wild elephants - on tours run by local communities, not the central government. Later on, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) took steps to restore part of the area which was later upgraded to a national park. So, I would rather take you to Kui Buri safari, instead of being stuck in a military Jurassic Park.
