Restaurant review: Blind Tiger in RaglanDenise Irvine The old Vinnies in Raglan is home to the summer pop-up restaurant, Blind Tiger. We're actually in Raglan, on the west coast, at summertime pop-up Blind Tiger in the former (legendary) Vinnies restaurant on Wainui Rd. Blind Tiger takes its name from the underground speakeasy bars – called blind tigers or blind pigs - that sold alcohol during the prohibition era in the US. There are a handful of dishes: Laos mango curry, curry laksa, Japanese stir-fry with shiitake mushrooms, masala curry, nasi goring, bami goreng.
