Mitchelle died in a road accident in Taita Taveta County on April 3, 2026. The service, attended by family, friends and members of the congregation, turned emotional as Ruto spoke publicly about his daughter for the first time since her death. He then walked slowly back to his seat, visibly sobbing, before being comforted by close family members. She died at the scene, while Ruto and other family members sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital. According to family announcements, Mitchelle will be buried on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the family home in Kabarak, Nakuru County.
