Rest homes under fire according to report123RF Health Minister David Clark wouldn't comment when changes might happen in the aged care industry. During the last term of Parliament Labour and the Greens carried out an inquiry with Grey Power into Aged Care. There have been a number of cases of elder abuse and poor standards in rest homes in the past year. One of the recommendations from the joint inquiry was to establish the Office of the Aged Care Commissioner and a position of Aged Care Commissioner. "One way forward is to review and update the aged care standards and make them mandatory."
