Mumbai suburban power consumers have ten days to either support or raise an objection to Vidarbha Industries Power Limited’s (VIPL) petition that seeks recovery of Rs 1,255.76 crore and carrying cost of nearly Rs 400 crore from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited consumers. The petition has also sought a revision in ‘Annual Revenue Requirement & determination of Tariff’ for FY2018-19 and FY2019-20. If the revenue gap and carrying cost are summed up, the approximate recovery amounts to around Rs 1,650 crore. While hearing the petition, which saw consumers and city Congress Chief Sanjay Nirupam opposing the move, MERC sought written submissions as suggestions and objections from power consumers. Thereafter, the petitioner – VIPL will be given a period of ten days to respond.
