MANILA, Philippines — A resolution to congratulate and commend Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray for bringing honor to the country was filed at the Senate on Monday. Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri file Senate Resolution 976 within hours of 24-year-old Gray winning the competition in Bangkok, Thailand. "Whereas, for winning the Miss Universe title, Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray has brought great pride, honor and glory to the country and the Filipino people, worthy of praise and commendation of this august Chamber," the resolution read. The resolution also noted that Gray would serve as the "voice" of the Miss Universe Organization in promoting its advocacy of affecting world change through volunteering, fundraising and advocacy.
