It halted refugee admissions and suspended entry into the US for citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. On the first day of 2026, a proclamation signed by Trump took effect, expanding an earlier travel restriction to 39 countries. On a human level, the January 1 travel ban means this.
