The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded the resignation of Col. Mansur Dan Ali (rtd) as Nigeria’s Defence Minister. It also called on him to tender an unreserved apology to Benue people and Nigerians for stating that killings by Fulani herdsmen in the state was as a result of the anti-open grazing law. In a statement, Publicity Secretary, Comrade Apeh Peterhot, decried the speech credited to Ali. He said: “We consider this statement as a flatly ridiculous absurdity and the highest level of public disgrace to democracy and the Nigerian populace. By this singular utterance, Col Dan Ali has inarguably displayed incontestable lack of the required sensibility and capacity to serve as Defence Minister in a country of over 180 million people and with over 300 ethnic nationalities.
