Inclement weather, a house full of guests and a long day of cooking ahead are good reasons for skipping a morning jog, but none of the above could deter residents from the Village of Lake Deaton. A group of them participated in the second annual Lake Deaton Turkey Trot and Walk on Thursday, and brought along donations for the Wildwood Food Pantry. Kathy Zimmer and Cathy McMullen, both of the Village of Lake Deaton, organized the event. “It is a great way to get people together, and a nice way to start the holiday,” Zimmer said. Though the weather forecast made it seem like the event would get cancelled, trotters still made it to the starting point at the Lake Deaton mailboxes by 8 a.m. with raincoats on their backs and donations in hand.
