A group of Chinese researchers suggests that the snake is the most probable wildlife animal reservoir for the deadly Wuhan coronavirus. The researchers, led by Wei Ji at the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Peking University’s Health Science Centre, published their findings in the Journal of Medical Virology on January 22. They narrowed the suspect reservoir to the deadly banded krait and the Chinese cobra. Snakes are among wild animals that are commonly consumed in China.
