While responding to what proved a fatal incident on Cnoc Bhréanainn (Mount Brandon) last Thursday afternoon (see page 17), KMRT received word of an incident in the MacGillycuddy Reeks. A very elderly man was reported as being at the top of the Devil's Ladder, apparently suffering from extreme exhaustion, and a significant portion of KMRT members deployed to Cnoc Bhréanainn withdrew to help in the Reeks. It was decided that the Cnoc Bhréanainn effort was already sufficiently resourced. The man was stretchered down to Árd na Locha and was transferred by Rescue Helicopter 115 to hospital. The Kerryman understands that the man sustained no injuries and is recovering well.
