Marlborough Civil Defence are evacuating six people from the Clarence River area this morning. Civil Defence said the weather is rainy and windy and the region still faced a number of challenges. The Pelorus River area in the Marlborough Sounds received 112mm of rain since yesterday morning, with more rain forecast through until Thursday. There had been flooding on State Highway 6 west of Canvastown and the Wakamarina River had burst its banks. Thirty rafters and kayakers had to be rescued from the same area yesterday.
