In a blowout investigation published by the Globe and Mail this month, reporters found that the faces of millions of travellers were captured and surveilled using facial recognition technology (FRT), again at the airport. This comes in the forms of misidentifying Black and brown faces, producing false positives and documenting faces for future investigations. Lawsuits from multiple states in the U.S. allege that FRT is in violation of our fundamental civil and human rights.
