The Cincinnati Reds are signing free agent reliever Pedro Strop to a one-year, $1.825 million contract, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday. Performance bonuses can boost the 34-year-old right-hander’s earnings to $3.5 million, per the report. Strop pitched in 50 games for the Chicago Cubs in 2019, posting a 2-5 record with 10 saves and a 4.97 ERA. Strop won a World Series championship with Chicago in 2016. Strop joined the Cubs in a July 2013 trade with the Orioles that also brought right-hander Jake Arrieta to Chicago.
