PUTRAJAYA: Allegations that Umno is planning to amend its constitution in bid to oust leaders who are facing court charges are an outright lie and slanderous, says its vice-president Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin. It was reported that the purported amendment to the Umno constitution, which would see party leaders facing court action be dropped from their posts, is reportedly being pushed by deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. The portal also reported that Umno is seeking to amend Cause 9.9 of its constitution in an extraordinary general meeting in November. The portal said if successful, the move will see Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and former president Datuk Seri Najib Razak automatically dropped from their posts. Mohamad, who is carrying out the duties of Umno president, has responded to the report, saying there is no attempt to remove anybody from the party, be it Ahmad Zahid or Najib.
