A deal with Raytheon, if it happens, is not expected to affect UTC’s plans to spin off its Otis elevator and Carrier building-systems businesses into separate companies next year. Raytheon would combine with UTC’s aerospace business that was bulked up in 2018 with its $30 billion acquisition of Rockwell Collins Inc., an Iowa aviation and aerospace manufacturer.
