Nebraska wide receiver Andre Hunt and tight end Katerian LeGrone, who were indefinitely suspended before the season began, will now be suspended for two and a half years, according to ESPN’s Outside the Lines. No reason was given at the time of the original suspension, but ESPN’s report says the punishment stems from a rape accusation on Aug. 25. The alleged assault occurred at Hunt’s apartment, though both players maintain that the sex was consensual. ESPN’s report says the woman texted others immediately after, alleging that she’d been raped. While there are no criminal charges against the players at the moment, there’s no statute of limitations for sexual assault cases.
