Thanks to a superbly executed boycott throughout New Orleans, Super Bowl 53 ratings hit historic lows. New Orleans came in at 56th of the 56 metered markets for the game, a full 8.8 points below the second lowest market. The drop was down more than half from the 55 rating for Super Bowl 52 in New Orleans. The national ratings came in at 44.9, the lowest for any Super Bowl since 2009. Boycott Bowl organizers said they would donate proceeds from the event to the New Orleans Recreation and Development commission.
