Report: BeIN nets Serie A rights deal in Middle East and North Africa

BeIN Media Group has acquired the rights to broadcast Serie A, Italian club soccer’s top tier, in Middle East and North Africa, according to Italian media reports. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica says that the Qatar-based broadcaster has agreed the deal with the IMG agency, which holds international media rights to Serie A. It reports that the agreement is worth €105 million (US$130 million) per season, with BeIN to show Serie A matches in both Arabic and English across the region. IMG and Italian public-service broadcaster Rai acquired Serie A international media rights in October, with IMG taking the rights internationally and Rai picking up a dedicated Italian-language package that serves Italian communities outside Italy. Those deals are worth a total of €1.113 billion (US$1.23 billion) over three seasons, from the 2018/19 season to 2020/21.
