A roading contractor will have to pay to realign a bridge after they installed it out of alignment with the road. Contractors have replaced a bridge across the Tomogalak Stream near Lumsden – but it’s out of alignment with the road on either side. The single-lane bridge on Biggar Rd veers on a slight angle, rather than being in straight alignment with the road. Exactly how the contractors managed to place the bridge out of alignment is now being investigated by the Southland District Council. The bridge was competitively tendered via open market as part of a wider package of bridge replacements round the Southland district, Hare said.
