The works are extremely necessary to enable the restoration of water supply to the surrounding communities such as Baatsona, East Legon and Spintex among others, as well as prevent possible caving in of the road, arising from the leakage of the pipelinesThe repair works has resulted in temporal closure of the Spintex road underpass into East Legon. “If we did not attend to the situation timely, the whole area would have been flooded and motorists would have been affected. Before we started, we thought it was a small part of the pipeline that had corroded, but when we dug the ground we realized that about 80% of the pipeline had to be replaced. We are now replacing the damaged pipeline with HDPE pipe which is very durable to stop the leakage.”He noted that barring any unforseen circumstances, the repair works which is being carried out with support from the Department of Urban Roads should be done by close of day and the underpass road opened to traffic.
