Public Works Minister G. Sudhakaran has said that people should not forget that the renaissance movement started with the liberation of women. He was speaking at a meeting at the Collectorate here on Tuesday to review the district-level preparations for the ‘women’s wall.’ “Women, irrespective of caste and religion, are still facing oppression. The women’s wall is a joint initiative of the government and people to ensure gender equality and Constitutional values. District Collector S. Suhas said that a 97- km-long human wall would be formed in the district on January 1. MLAs U. Pratibha and Saji Cherian, district panchayat president G. Venugopal, and others attended the meeting.
