Remuera house left to charity sells for $2.45 million


A Remuera house which the former owners left to charity after they died sold at auction for $2.45m. Beth, who passed away in 2008, and Brian, who passed away this year, had no children but doted on many nieces, nephews and extended family. Bidding on the house in Bayleys' Remuera auction rooms started at $1.6m and quickly rose to $2m. The 1913 house, which sits on a level 1004sq m corner site, has a council valuation of $1.56 million. "Presbyterian Support gave Brian a lot of assistance after Beth passed away and there are other people in our immediate family who have vascular dementia and alzheimers.
