It was July 2, 1986, and the Lady Elizabeth II had capsized during a rough seas training exercise with four officers aboard. Sergeant Phil Ward lost his life after the capsize of the Lady Elizabeth II. He was in the toolmakers' workshop when Peter Button called from their Wellington helicopter hangar.
