The most important story at times like this, in my view, is the one about the victims themselves. In the wake of tragedies that claim a life, such as a road collision, it is common to see police refuse to release victims’ names. A Star article last month highlighted the disturbing trend of some police agencies even withholding the names of homicide victims. I know some will think that the media have no right to disturb a family at such a time. I heard from readers who thought the Star numbers should reflect this.
