Remember the Arab world’s forgotten Jewish refugees


I don’t know, but related stories of those dispersed from the 2,500-year-old Iraqi Jewish community are indeed rare. Jewish refugees from Arab countries and their descendants now comprise roughly half of Israel’s population. Still, some countries, including the Canada, the United States, and Israel, have shed light on this forgotten history. In March 2014, Canada formally recognized the plight of Jews who fled or were expelled from Arab countries. Under President Barack Obama, the U.S. Congress declared that no comprehensive Middle East peace can be reached without recognition of, and redress for, the legitimate rights of Jewish refugees from the Arab world.
