PETALING JAYA: The abduction of pastor Raymond Koh on Feb 13 has raised fears of an "escalation of violence" against people of faith, said the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism. The council expressed concern that Malaysia’s interfaith cooperation and harmony could be negatively impacted by cases such as Koh’s abduction. "The news of Koh’s abduction have fanned fears across all religious divides in Malaysian society, as it is unprecedented for a man of faith to be abducted in this way in our peaceful multicultural country. Koh, 62, was abducted from his car by a group of masked men while on his way to a friend’s house in Kelana Jaya. His family, who has not received any demand for ransom, is offering a reward of RM100,000 for information on his whereabouts.
