Reliever Leone the odd man out as Happ returns

Dominic Leone, shown here during spring training, has a 4.01 ERA in 21 games with the Jays this year. Dominic Leone, one of the prime workhorses in the Jays bullpen, had a better ERA (4.01) than either Jason Grilli or J.P. Howell (both at 6.75). Only Joe Biagini, bumped up to the rotation, and Ryan Tepera have logged more innings in relief than Leone so far this year. Gibbons admitted on Tuesday he had concerns about taking Biagini out of the bullpen when Happ, Francisco Liriano and Aaron Sanchez were all relegated to the disabled list. The deciding factor on Liriano’s return was the pitcher feeling “really good” both that night and the next day.
