Musicians are set to receive payments for Skiza tunes, which telecommunications giant Safaricom has released to collective management organizations. MCSK led artistes in a peaceful demonstration last month for Safaricom to release money owed to them in form of Skiza tune royalties. The telecommunications firm had assured artistes on April 12 that their money collected in form of Skiza tunes royalty payments was safe. Corporate affairs director Stephen Chege said the company was ready to pay the CMOs Sh152 million collected in Skiza royalties. Noting Safaricom was to release the payments in July 2015, they thanked musicians for patience amid efforts to streamline the monetisation of their work.
